But life is not that exciting. I'm not writing again, alas. The weather is cold. And next time I am tempted to eat foods containing fodmaps I'm going to remember that the consequences have several times proven to never be pretty, and try to resist. (But goddamn, who'd have thought there was so much wheat in the world, really.)

I am rewatching (and seeing some eps for the first time too) Deep Space Nine. Time changes everything, as the song goes, and I am so going to miss Jadzia; Sisko is the best and sometimes most bemused father in the world; Julian Bashir is Blair Sandburg in space; I love nearly everyone, especially Kira; and damn, Garak is fun. I discovered that his actor, Andrew Robinson, played the mentally ill man who is Molly's friend in 'Waiting Room' in TS. Such a small tv world sometimes.

It's not May, but I liked this song that I heard on the radio recently, so try this: Reb Fountain and her song 'Gold'.

Saw Wonder Woman

I liked it a lot - it didn't grab me fannishly, and I will never particularly warm to Chris Pine, but it was fun and well done, and I was impressed by the scenes on Themyscira and some of the casting choices made.

I am not sure but I suspect I will have to drop out of the Pros BB (again). Dammit.

I bought myself a new jumper/sweater, and I bore it home in triumph and put it on again, and realised that I had bought a Blair Sandburg jumper. Not in the sense that it is an absolute copy of anything he wore in the show, but it is definitely 'Blairish' in style. Who'd a thunk?

New Zealand music again

Beautiful Skin by Strawpeople, from 1995. I was listening to this, and realised, hey, it's a Hannigram song.

Attempts to embed this failed miserably, so it's just a link this time, sorry.

Hello again

I broke my special restricted low fodmap diet in a small way over the weekend with minimal consequences, and my boss continues to think I walk on water. Life is acceptable. If only I was writing.

Have some more NZ music for May. This is Shona Laing's 1987 song Highway Warriors. No Mad Max here, just 'an empty stretch where bone and flesh met the machine'.

It's music.

A song from 1983, when Mab was young, and big hair and baggy trou reined supreme. This is DDSmash's song Outlook for Thursday. (Yes, DD as in Dave Dobbyn; I am always predictable.)

I sometimes think this would make an excellent Pros song, because what else are you going do with the line "together by design, sunshine"?

I am feeling far less discombobulated than I was this time last week, which is nice, because I felt very discombobulated....

More music and a grumble

This has not been a good week for the niggly health problems. Ah me, the joys of middle-age, yes. At least I got a new screen for the old desktop at a very moderate cost, so that's something, because the internet is not always tablet friendly for my fingers and eyesight.

But enough moaning. Have some Sharon O'Neill, in a 1979 video perfectly poised between the seventies and the eighties. This is her song Words. "And we will not take a shot at you for flying..."

It's May!

You know what that means.

This is a Kiwi classic going all the way back to 1975.

Random Sentinel burblings

I was doing back-ups, as a sensible computer owning person should, and I found some some incomplete and occasionally incoherent burblings as to my first impressions of season 2 of the official DVD release after my many years of watching fuzzy copies of copies. (Mind you, I was very glad to have the fuzzy at the time.) So here they are under a cut, and more or less spell-checked and grammatically improved.
Burblings, as promisedCollapse )

Guardians of the Galaxy 2...

...is a lot of fun, and I enjoyed it a lot. :-)
